Faultline, Marlborough, New Zealand 2022

New Zealand is rightly famed for its Sauvignon Blancs and this is a cracker. It has plenty of the tropical fruit you would expect, but it is nicely balanced by the herbaceous characters, so the grapefruit and lime flavours are not too overpowering. Great for drinking on its own or with salads or seafood – and excellent value for money.

Pazo do Mar, ‘Coral do Mar’ Albariño, Rias Baixas, Spain 2022

Fresh flavours of orange peel, pineapple and white flowers with a rich mouthfeel. Classic mineral Albariño.

Chateau de Campuget, ‘1753’ Viognier, Costières de Nîmes, S. Rhone, France 2021

An elegant Viognier with hints of nectarine, ginger and honeysuckle. Precise, crisp and balanced on the palate, with round, generous fruit and a long, elegant finish. Perfect for serving chilled as an apéritif, or with spicy dishes, such as a Thai or Indian takeaway, if you don’t want to cook. One of the best Viogniers I have ever tried! And it comes in a particularly handsome glass-stoppered bottle, too.

Chateau de Campuget, ‘1753’ Syrah, Costières de Nîmes, S. Rhone, France 2018

Classic Syrah nose with a very intense fruit-driven character, this classy wine shows notes of liquorice and violet complemented by a hint of dark chocolate. Rich black fruits are enveloped by a smooth and velvety texture through to a lovely fresh finish. Made without any oak influence and with no added sulphites to allow the purity of fruit shine through.

San Marzano, ‘Tramari’ Rosé de Primitivo, Puglia, Italy 2023

Made from the Primitivo grape, this is a very appealing pale and tangy rosé. Softly coloured with intense aromas of wild cherries and raspberries, combined with an attractive hint of Mediterranean maquis – the local aromatic shrubland. Elegantly styled and slightly off-dry, with a refreshing finish.

San Marzano, ‘Talo’, Primitivo di Manduria, Puglia, Italy 2022

A rich and opulent Primitivo with vibrant flavours of stewed red peppers and juicy brambly fruit on a vanilla and cinnamon background packing a punch of flavour. Maturation in French and American wood barrels adds to the depth of flavour.
