Cantina Tramin, Pinot Bianco, Alto Adige, Italy

This part of North Eastern Italy is a fantastic wine region, even to the point which the highly respected wine writer Hugh Johnson considers this region to grow probably the best Pinot Blanc in the world. Alto Adige is nestled on the borders of Austria and Switzerland and this a great example of the excellent wines grown here.  This winery is among the first cooperative in this region to meet the challenges of sustainable agriculture.  This grape is part of the Burgundian Pinot family and is related to Pinot Grigio and Pinot Noir. With its light scents of green apple along with a nutty flavour, making it an excellent accompaniment for fish or white meat.
